Urban Decay has “transported away from the constraints of Earth and created a galaxy of hypnotic shades and textures” for Spring 2010, according to the innovative color cosmetics brand. Its latest creation is Stardust Eyeshadows ($20 each)—a glitter range which pays homage to David Bowie’s flashy Ziggy Stardust era. Powder-fine prismatic bits of glitter miraculously feel silky smooth in the formulation—a common quandary with sparkle eyeshadows. The range features a variety of sparkly hues—from tame neutrals such as Diamond Dog, a medium brown with a silver glitter that is office-appropriate; to Atmosphere, a deep turquoise with a pale blue shimmer that is perfect for a night on the town. The packaging is quite novel on this product. Just a little “squeeze” on the sides opens the soft-touch component. Another “gem” in the Spring 2010 collection is the addition of Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($18) to Urban Decay’s bestselling Primer Potion family. This Sephora exclusive follows the success of Sin, a shimmering champagne eyeshadow primer that was a big hit in 2009. Eden is a modern, tawny-hued, matte version that is in step with the classic neutral hues of Holiday 2009. A swipe of this primer before your favorite eyeshadow delivers vibrant, stay-put, all-day color with no creasing. To differentiate it from Urban Decay’s other primer shades, the cap is tinted purple, and the bottle is finished in a matte, neutral shade with a suede-like feel—surely to reach collector’s status for 2010. Previously only available in Holiday gift sets, Urban Decay also added four new shades to its beloved 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil family ($17 each): Crash, a rich deep eggplant; Oil Slick, a black with silver sparkle; Mildew, a dark green prettier than it sounds; and Binge, a longly-awaited navy that consumers will surely eat up. With nourishing ingredients like vitamin E and jojoba oil and waterproof formula, these eye pencils test their mettle on all-day long-wear durability. Last but not least, Urban Decay also recently debuted with much fanfare a limited edition “Book of Shadows” eyeshadow palette in correlation to Tim Burton’s upcoming movie, “Alice in Wonderland.” More info: www.urbandecay.com
